Google Ads management for landscapers
Landscaping demand is seasonal and so is wasted spend. Broad keywords can pull in DIY homeowners, plant and tool shoppers, and job seekers at exactly the moment your budget should be going toward people ready to book an estimate.

DIY projects, retail shopping and seasonal job searches are the common leaks for landscapers.
- DIY searches: how to lay sod myself, how to build a retaining wall.
- Retail and nursery searches: buy mulch near me, plant nursery hours.
- Seasonal and landscaping job searches: landscaping jobs near me, lawn care seasonal work.
- Services you don't offer, such as tree removal or snow plowing if you only do lawn maintenance.
- Searches from towns outside the area you service.
Common tracking problems for landscaping companies
Estimate requests often come through a quote form or a phone call, and both can be undercounted.
If your quote request form is embedded or hosted elsewhere, check that a submission actually fires a conversion in Google Ads rather than just a page view being counted.
Calls for larger projects like installs or hardscaping are worth tracking separately from routine maintenance calls, since the two lead types have very different values.

What does a good cost per lead look like?
Judge cost per booked estimate against the typical job value for maintenance versus installation work.
A weekly mowing contract and a full landscape install are worth very different amounts over a season. Compare cost per lead for each separately rather than blending them.
Count how many estimate requests turn into signed jobs. A low cost per lead means little if few of those leads convert to paying work.
How should a landscaping company plan budget by season?
Review search terms before peak season and watch for campaigns that run out of daily budget.
- Separate maintenance and installation campaigns
- Exclude DIY and retail-shopping searches
- Check for budget-limited status during spring and fall rushes
- Confirm quote form submissions are tracked as conversions
Frequently asked questions
Why do my landscaping ads slow down mid-season?
A daily budget can run out early during a seasonal rush. An audit flags budget-limited campaigns so you can decide whether to adjust spend.
Should maintenance and installation jobs run in the same campaign?
Usually not. They attract different searches and have different values, so separating them makes performance easier to judge.
Does Claritad need access to my job scheduling software?
No. Claritad reads your Google Ads account only, and reports on what it finds there.
