Google Ads cost per lead calculator
Cost per lead only matters next to what a lead is worth. Enter last month's numbers to see what each click, lead and new customer actually cost you — and whether the ads paid for themselves. Everything is calculated in your browser from the numbers you enter.
Enter spend, clicks and leads (all above zero) to see your results.
How it's calculated
- Cost per click = spend ÷ clicks.
- Cost per lead = spend ÷ leads.
- Customers = leads × the share that become customers.
- Cost per customer = spend ÷ customers.
- Return on ad spend = (customers × average customer value) ÷ spend.
How to read the result
Judge cost per customer against customer value, not cost per lead against someone else's average.
A high cost per lead can be fine if most leads become customers; a low one can hide waste if few do. If the verdict says the ads cost more than they bring in, check which searches you're paying for and whether leads are tracked before cutting the budget.

Frequently asked questions
What counts as a lead?
Whatever you'd call a real enquiry: a call long enough to be a conversation, a form submission, a booking. Use your own records, not just the conversions number in Google Ads, if you're not sure tracking is accurate.
Why doesn't this calculator show an industry average?
Averages hide huge differences in what a customer is worth. A cost per lead that's ruinous for one business is cheap for another. The verdict compares the cost of a customer with what that customer is worth to you.
What if my leads number in Google Ads is zero but I'm getting calls?
That usually means calls aren't being tracked. Count leads from your phone and inbox for the same period and use that number here.
